Since 1982. Legend Electric was actually started in 1968 by Doug Hohl. Having grown up in a electrical contracting business Doug Started out on his own while still in high school because the family business was a union shop and there was no way for him to join the union at that point. Legend Electric Company contracted with several residential builders over the next few years.

Doug went off to college and upon graduation went to work for Federal Mogul Corporation as the Newark Plant Engineer. It didn't take long for Doug to realize he would not be happy sitting behind a desk so he went back to the family business as a service electrician and estimator. During his time with
the union he taught the third and fourth year apprentices at the union school.
